Bring Your Memories Along!

The Tilbury Riverside Project is inviting you to come along to Crown Court in Newton Road on Monday 5th Dec at 7pm for an informal evening going down memory lane!! This is a chance for you to share your memories of Tilbury and Chadwell. We will welcome any stories/photos or objects that bring back memories for you.

Annie O’Brien and Jonathan Catton will be there to talk to you about the new exciting Community Archive project that is starting in Tilbury.

Tilbury Christmas Lights

Tilbury Centenary

Did you know that 2012 will be Tilbury’s 100th birthday?1st April 2012 marks 100 years since the formation of Tilbury Urban District Council, the first time the town was recognised as a separate settlement to Chadwell St. Mary.To find out more about what the Tilbury Riverside Project and its partners will be doing to celebrate this landmark, click here.

Meadow Garden

The Meadow Garden was developed initially in partnership with National Grid and RWE nPower and the Tilbury Riverside Project continues to support the upkeep, maintenance and development of the garden.It provides a valuable habitat for the native fauna of the marshes around Tilbury and is important to protect the Hornet Robberfly, the UK’s largest fly!

Heritage Open Day

The Tilbury Riverside Project has been taking the lead in organising Heritage Open Days in Tilbury for a number of years.These are fascinating days out, giving people to the opportunity to visit Thurrock landmarks and attractions for free that are rarely open to the public.To find out more about our Heritage Open Day in 2011 click here.

In 2011, the Tilbury Riverside Project will start an exciting new project to build a community archive highlighting the lives of people in Tilbury and Chadwell since the Second World War.With the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, we’ll be collecting stories, anecdotes, photos, memorabilia and other reminders of the fascinating history of this port town in the twentieth-century.
