Bring Your Memories Along!

The Tilbury Riverside Project is inviting you to come along to Crown Court in Newton Road on Monday 5th Dec at 7pm for an informal evening going down memory lane!! This is a chance for you to share your memories of Tilbury and Chadwell. We will welcome any stories/photos or objects that bring back memories for you.

Annie O’Brien and Jonathan Catton will be there to talk to you about the new exciting Community Archive project that is starting in Tilbury.

Free Guided History Walks in Tilbury & Chadwell

Monday 21st November 10am -12pm Guided walk around Chadwell. Meet outside Chadwell Library. Tea/Coffee in the library at the end of the walk.

Thursday 24th Novemver 10am-12pm Guided walk around Tilbury. Meet outside Tilbury Library. Tea/coffee in library at the end of the walk.

Both walks with have Jonathan Catton from Thurrock Musuem as their guide.

Free Family History Training on 8th November

The Tilbury Riverside Project is offering a morning of free  tracing your family history. The training is being offered by the Essex Record Office on 8th November at 10am. It is a 2 hour workshop with a free lunch as well! This will give you time to ask questions and have a chat with the trainers. The training is being held at the Tilbury Riverside Arts & Activity Centre, Ferry Road, Tilbury. RM18 7NL.

Tilbury Christmas Lights & Fayre Friday 2nd December – Civic Square

The Tilbury Christmas Lights will be bigger and better this year! 

 

Put the 2nd December in your diary and come down to Civic Square by the clock for a fun filled evening. It all starts at 4.30 with entertainment on the stage. This year will see Carol Singers from Lansdowne school, a Christmas show from the Tip Toe Stage School, the No Nonsense Band playing and our time favourite Les Morgan will be compere for the evening. The children will be able to visit Father Christmas for just £1.00 in the Sunshine Centre’s Winter Wonderland. Charles White will be bringing his fun fair for all to enjoy and there will be stalls, games and refreshments.

The lights will be switched on at 6pm. Be there and see Civic Square light up for the festive season!!

Next Centenary Meeting

The next meeting of the Tilbury Centenary committee to plan the celebrations for Tilbury’s 100th birthday will take place on

18th October 2011 6.30pm at the Crown Court Complex on Kelvin Road.

Tilbury Christmas Lights

Did you know that 2012 will be Tilbury’s 100th birthday?1st April 2012 marks 100 years since the formation of Tilbury Urban District Council, the first time the town was recognised as a separate settlement to Chadwell St. Mary.To find out more about what the Tilbury Riverside Project and its partners will be doing to celebrate this landmark, click here.
