Do you remember the Bomb Crater or the Bug Hutch? Then you may want to come along to the Down Memory Lane on Sept 8th from 10am – 4pm at the Tilbury Riverside Arts and Activity Centre. There will be a talk on Tilbury in the morning at 11am and one in the afternoon at 2pm with Jonathan Catton. There will a tour around the old ticket office with George Watts and tea/coffee/cakes available.

The day begins at 11am and there is lots to do until 5pm.
Tilbury Town was a 100 years old on April 1st this year and to celebrate this great anniversary there is a family fun day on the Anchor Field on 15th July 11am -5pm. The day will be filled with lots of entertainment on a stage and an arena. There are dog display teams, fun-fair, majorettes, street dancing, old fashioned games ie: sack race, egg and spoon, singing from St. Mary’s school, Lansdowne School, Elite Dancing, Jacqui School of Dancing, Sunshine Centre singers, Fruitful Land Gospel Singers, local singer Amy Welton, Tip Toes Stage School, Gateway Academy and the famous No Nonsense Band!! There will also be refreshments, face painting, Vintage bus tours around the town, picnic area, craft stalls, Heritage Marquee, Tilbury Brass Band and Beat the Goalie!!

A great day was had by all on April 1st at the Cruise Terminal. Nearly 1,000 people came along to hear Jonathan Catton’s interesting talk on the history of Tilbury Town. There were open top bus rides around the Port and Annie O’Brien launched the new Tilbury and Chadwell memories website. The Tilbury Brass Band kept people entertained as they browsed the history stalls. Annie would like to thank everyone for coming and especially to the Port of Tilbury for their support. There will be a shuttle bus operating along the 99 bus route leaving Tilbury Town station at 09.30 hrs and every hour until 14.30. A return service will run from the Cruise Terminal on the hour from11.00 until 17.00
The Tilbury Centenary will take place on April 1st in the Cruise Terminal
